Lightpainting 101 – Sold Out!

This hands-on, step-by-step instructional class is devoted to the creative lighting technique of Lightpainting, a creative lighting technique growing in popularity. The workshop will include practical information on how Dave approaches Lightpainting, including insightful strategies, unique equipment applications, and personal commentary. Lightpainting can be applicable to all photographers regardless of their subject genre. You'll first learn the basics, then progress to making your own Lightpaintings of table-top subjects and the human subject. Limited to 35 participants.

Please Note: All attendees will need to bring a formatted compact flash card (no SD cards) to the class. Cameras, tripods and lighting will be provided. This presentation will illustrate how to use off camera flash in a variety of situations, but will also be technical with respect to current Speedlight technology, camera settings and accessory equipment. Attendees will gain a thorough understanding of off camera flash principles and applications ranging from portraiture, to lighting on location, to sports action with High Speed Sync all being accomplished using Speedlights off camera. This will be a step-by-step instructional style presentation.

Lightpainting

This presentation will cater to the artistic lighting technique of Lightpainting, which combines long exposure times with illumination from mobile light sources to create a unique photograph. This highly creative lighting style of image making is applicable in every genre of photography and is a useful skill for any photographer to have. Attendees will see multiple examples ranging from small tabletop imagery, to life size figure, to large-scale landscapes. This stylized lighting technique will be illustrated with a collection of my portfolio images and step-by-step procedures with commentary on how Lightpainting is executed.

Sports Lighting Commercial Shoot

This lecture/demonstration class will teach you how to approach strobe lighting for a large sports action scene. This will be a live commercial shoot scenario with a world-class athlete in action. Attendees will gain knowledge and specific techniques on how to light a large action scene using strobes, soft boxes, grids, backdrops, etc. Dave will answer questions throughout the set-up and shooting process. This class is for any photographer interested in learning commercial or editorial lighting techniques and protocol.

Practical information of how Dave approaches his lighting projects, along with insightful strategies, unique equipment applications, and personal commentary will be featured throughout this instructional class. Note taking is encouraged.
