In-Depth Workshop Check-In

Workshop Check-In

9-2-14 | Tuesday:
Opens at 10:00am

If you are signed up for an in-depth workshop, we open the Registration Counter at 10:00am so you can get checked in and are ready to go for your in-depth workshop in the afternoon.

Most of the in-depth workshops start at noon or 1:00pm.
Bring your letter/badge (mailed to you prior to the conference) or online registration confirmation with you for check in. If you don’t have it, that’s okay, we can still get you checked in.

After check in, many in-depth workshop attendees return to their hotel rooms to drop off the PSW Workbook, and other check in materials prior to the start of their afternoon workshop. (We are not able to store any personal belongings in the in-depth workshop rooms. If your workshop travels offsite, you have the option to keep your items on the bus at your own risk.)

Once you’ve checked in with us for an in-depth workshop, you’re also officially checked in for the conference. So Tuesday morning, just head straight to the Opening Ceremony & Keynote, which starts at 9:00am.

In-Depth Workshop Details & Equipment Requirements

Some of our in-depth workshops have some specific equipment requirements. So, if you’re registered for one of these workshops, make sure you take a look at the gear you’ll need to bring along.

  Lights, Aerial Camera, Action!

Lights, Aerial Camera, Action! with Russell Brown | 12:00 - 8:00 pm
Russell's Adobe Wild West flight training class is just over a week away and it’s time to prepare for class. It’s going to be a fantastic class where you will learn, and have fun. I have invited some of the best aerial quad-copter instructors in the country to help me with this class. This class has been organized to have only 5 students working with each instructor. This will give you plenty of time for flying and fine-tuning your aerial skills.

In this class, we teach basic flight techniques and advance aerial maneuvers for video and still image capture. We supply DJI Vision+ copters for the class, and you don’t need to bring your own. However, you can bring your personal copter in for technical questions, but no flying of personal copters is allowed. Although we are riding in an air-conditioned bus, you should wear lightweight clothing, sunscreen and a hat for your time outdoors. We will supply cold lemonade and you will be able to purchase other cold beverages, plus there will be shaded areas for resting between aerial adventures. All students will get a USB drive for favorite images and video clips!

  Lightpainting The Town

Lightpainting The Town with Dave Black
5:30 - 10:30 pm

Equipment Requirements: Each participant will need to bring their own 35mm DSLR digital camera and Flash Card or SD Card. Short zoom lenses like the 24mm-70mm are ideal. A sturdy Tripod is also required. A headlamp is recommended, as the class will be working in the dark after sunset.

You must also bring their own LED flashlight.

  Characters On Location

Characters On Location: Telling Stories With Light with Joe McNally | 12:00 - 7:00 pm
Please bring:
• Camera body (with lots of card space)
• Your Favorite lens

  Photo Safari

Photo Safari with Moose Peterson
12:00 - 7:00 pm

Here is a basic list of gear you might want to bring:
• Camera body (with lots of card space)
• Photopack
• Wide-angle lens – 14m m to perhaps 35mm
• Short telephoto – 85mm to 200mm
• Comfortable walking shoes
• Flash – heck yah!
• Tripods are not required

Because we will be in confined spaces and in a power plant with generators emitting electromagnetic fields, those with a pacemaker, defibrillator or claustrophobia should avoid this tour. The Hoover Dam Visitor Center and the Power Plant Tour are wheelchair/scooter accessible, but the Dam Tour is NOT. Guests with mobility equipment can enter the Visitor Center by elevator, which is inset into the canyon wall. Complimentary parking is offered at the garage for those with accessibility needs.

Tour scripts are available upon request.

  Real World Concert Photography

Real World Concert Photography with Alan Hess and Scott Diussa | 12:00 - 5:00 pm
Here are a couple of things that will make the whole day go better. The workshop has a live concert shoot, so bring a camera and lens. We will have some loaner Nikon gear for you to try but the supply is limited. If you want to try out one of the loaner cameras you will need to bring a memory card. We will have cameras that use both Compact Flash and SD memory cards so make sure you bring either a Compact Flash card or a SD card or both.

There is a contest.
• Someone in the workshop is going to win a Nikon D810 DSLR.
• You will need a way to edit and email an image to Scott and Alan after the workshop is over.
• You will NOT need to bring a laptop to the class. The editing of your images will take place after the class is over on your time.

  Canon: Live Studio Model Shoot

Canon: Live Studio Model Shoot with Jack Reznicki and Eddie Tapp
12:00 - 6:00 pm

Bring your camera, favorite portrait lens, and your laptop loaded with a current version of Photoshop and a memory card, and get ready to rock.... And the topping on the treat is that three of the best images will be presented as semi-finalists at the Keynote Event the next day; the images will be seen by all the Photoshop World attendees present, and the attendees will vote on the best image of class.
