You'll spend your whole week at Photoshop World in pursuit of that answer and a great place to start is at the NAPP Safari Precon. With your host Moose Peterson, you'll begin in the classroom where Moose will bring the basics of photography to life for you. 12:00pm - 07:00pm	Characters On Location: Telling Stories With Light with Joe McNally On location shoot with characters that could include firefighters, ballerinas, fashion models, circus folks. Interesting people in an interesting place. Big flash. Small flash. Constant light. Available light. What could go wrong? The day starts in class with Joe McNally as he describes and shows the basics of light, and when you might want to use a particular type of light to describe a scene. Hard light, soft light, multiple light, gelled light with a color, lighting the foreground with one look and the background with another--all will be shown and discussed in a free wheeling Q&A designed to get the class ready for the location. While all this is happening, that location is being prepared with models, makeup, lighting, assistants--the whole nine yards of on location flash photography. Participants will get to rotate to different "sets," each manned by an experienced assistant or lighting rep, while Joe rotates from set to set, discussing strategies, lighting effects, and modifiers. You will have access to small flash, big flash, and constant light sources, all deployed for you so that you can experiment with the language of light, and tell the story of your subject. The basics of using one light are covered, as well as advanced techniques like high speed sync flash and rim lighting. Experiment with gear ranging from one small speed light to a 74" Octa fitted with a studio strobe. Do I need a model release? Are there different types of model releases? If I got permission to photograph a house and it’s later sold, can I still use the photo? Can the bride and groom sign a release for their guests? Do I need a release with all that legal jargon, cause it scares the bejeezes out of my subjects? Is there a “universal” model release? What about model release apps? Is there a smart tip on getting strangers on the street to sign my release? This session will answer all of these questions and many, many more about proper releases. And “real world” why you need them.	Illustrator Advanced Techniques with Web Editor We'll go under the hood and help you discover the most powerful and extremely effective features of Illustrator, that'll take all your logo, illustrations and vector-based designs to the next level.	Lightpainting: Light Up Your World with Dave Black This presentation will cater to the artistic lighting technique of Lightpainting. Lightpainting combines long exposure times with illumination from mobile light sources to create a unique photograph. This highly creative lighting style of image making is applicable to every genera of photography and is a useful skill for any photographer to have. Attendee’s will see multiple examples ranging from small tabletop imagery, to life size scenes, and even large-scale landscapes. This stylized lighting technique will be illustrated with a collection of portfolio images including his Lightpainting work for National Geographic. Step-by-step procedures and commentary as to how Lightpainting is accomplished will be the driving point behind this most unique presentation. Questions will be taken during the presentation time.
