You might remember how last year, we held a little contest asking folks to create a PSW “Twibbon” so people could use them as avatars to tell the Twitterverse where they were going. Well, this year, NAPP member Kevin Stohlmeyer created such a cool-looking PSW Twitter avatar on his own that we asked him if he’d share it with everyone… and he did. Thanks Kevin!

Make your own PSW avatar for Twitter, Facebook or any other social media site!
To create the 2010 Photoshop World Avatar:
Download the “pswavatar.psd” file and open in Photoshop.
Drag and drop your headshot into the document and remove the “Your Photo Here” Layer. (Be sure to position your headshot layer between the “PSW Logo” layer and the background.)
Next, create a layer mask to blend your headshot into the image. I used the Quick Select Tool along with the new Refine Edge controls in Photoshop CS5, using the Output option to create a new mask. If you do not have CS5, select your image and click the mask button in the Layers panel. Clean up the mask as needed.
Save the final image as a .jpg file. Remember Twitter has file size a limitation of 700k. Reduce the quality in the .jpg dialog box as needed.
Enjoy!

Got mine up and on my facebook also.
There has to some kind of magic in photo editing like that. I’m going to give it a try later but for now I will stick with the fireworks. I hope my avatar shows up correctly. I found this site called Gravatar where you upload your picture then he puts it where ever you post. I guess we will see if it works! When is this convention?
