Photoshop World–Suggestions for Next Year–Please Comment!

Hey, it’s Janine and you know I love Photoshop World–a fantastic experience, highly recommended to anyone.

But now that the dust has settled, I’m coming up with a few suggestions for next year. And I’m hoping you’ll chime in with yours.

Forgot to mention up till now that I LOVED the Speed Pass. I paid a little bit of money and got guaranteed front-row seats at the keynote, most classes, and the closing ceremony. You absolutely don’t need to have this, you can line up and jockey for seats. But I was so busy, I loved being able to slip in at the last minute and get great seats.

Here’s the one time where it didn’t work out so well for me. I was in Vincent Versace’s Black and White Conversion class, which was amazing. Shortly after it started, a very large man plopped down between me and another woman. He easily took up half my seat (and hers). Then he fell asleep and snored loudly. We were right in front of Mr. Versace. Maybe I should have nudged the guy, I  don’t know. I just hope Mr. Versace didn’t take offense. Mr. V–the big guy snoring? Not affiliated with me! If he had shown up on time, I could have moved elsewhere.

I have no suggestions for improving Midnight Madness. That’s an experience that cannot be described, much less improved. Unless we clone Vanelli, and nobody wants to see that happen.

Here’s a little tip for the organizers. I got lots of information on the conference before I got there. One thing missing–where and when to sign in. We all sort-of knew when to sign in, but none of us could remember how we knew that (possibly from the brochure I lost six months ago?). Not on the website. Not in the letter with our badge.  I’d recommend that info be included in all those places. Especially in the letter attached to our badge, which we need to sign in!

Speaking of badges, please please make the names larger. So I don’t have to bend to navel level to find out who I’m talking to.

I’ve heard friends wishing there were more scholarships for (your special interest here). Good idea, but maybe there could just be an easier  procedure for getting scholarships? There are also contests for free tickets, check Twitter and the forums. And I would encourage people to approach vendors in advance  for sponsorships–that worked for some of my friends. And remember, there are discounts for alumni, NAPP members, and early sign ups.

Loved it that Nancy got some of us “civilians”  video cameras. That was my first time holding a video camera, and the Scriv used a lot of my footage in the closing ceremony! Also loved the temporary NAPP tattoos we got. Just deciding exactly where to put mine! (Close your eyes and turn away!)

I don’t know how to make this next suggestion work, because the problem is me. The final evaluations are handed it at the closing ceremony.  So we all quickly scribble something at the last minute and hand it in to get a chance at the prizes.  It would be better if we took our time over the length of the conference, and kept track of all our suggesti0ns (the evaluations are just sitting there in our notebook).  I always mean to. I never do. Maybe if we got reminded along with the other daily reminders? Speaking of evaluations, several boxes to put them in, one by each exit, would sure help the traffic problems when exiting class.

Now it’s your turn. Please comment here with any suggestions you might have about how to make next year’s Photoshop World even better. NAPP takes your suggestions very seriously, take a moment to help improve your Photoshop World.
